Altoona VA Center to Host Veteran and Community Education Fair

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – The James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center held an outdoor educational fair on Tuesday, August 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the center’s parking lot.

The fair educated veterans, employees and communities about opportunities to advance their careers. He also presented more information on the programs available to help veterans with their tuition.

Through various GI bills, the Yellow Ribbon Program, and other educational assistance programs, veterans are able to have their full tuition paid for in state public schools. Some of these programs have an expiration date after a veteran’s period of service. It is therefore important to use education funding while it is available. The fair showed veterans all the funding they can receive when pursuing an education.

The show brought together representatives from local colleges and technical schools, including Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Juniata College, Mount Aloysius College, Penn Highlands Community College, Conemaugh School of Nursing, South Hills School of Business & Technology and the Greater Altoona Career & Technology. Center.
