Beshear Appoints Amy McGrath to Veterans Trust Fund Board

Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear has nominated former Democratic Senate and Congressional nominee Amy McGrath to a vacant board seat.

Beshear added McGrath to the board of the Veterans Program Trust Fund. The retired US Marine Corps lieutenant colonel replaces Shontelle Adams, who resigned.

McGrath will serve for the remainder of the term expiring July 15, 2023.

Here are the other board and commission appointments Beshear has recently made.

Governor Beshear named Lory Wilson a member of the Kentucky Board of Dentistry.

  • Lory Wilson of Lexington is a dental hygienist. She replaces Donna Ruley, whose term has expired, and will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2026.

Governor Beshear named Lorilea Conyer and Jay Prather members of the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology.

  • Lorilea Conyer of Louisville is a licensed psychologist. She replaces Stacy Seale, whose term has expired, and will serve for a term expiring September 26, 2026.
  • Jay Prather of Lexington is an attorney with Garmer and Prather. He replaces Justin Gilfert, whose term has expired, and will serve for a term expiring September 26, 2026.

Governor Beshear has named Jessica Kavanaugh a board member of the Kentucky Traumatic Brain Injury Trust Fund.

  • Jessica Kavanaugh of Lexington is a physician of physical medicine and rehabilitation. She replaces Bryce Meredith, whose term has expired, and will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2026.

Governor Beshear named Whitley Keltner a member of the Geographic Information Advisory Council.

  • Whitley Keltner of Lexington is a GIS analyst. She replaces Michael Young, whose term has expired, and will serve for a term expiring September 26, 2026.

Governor Beshear named Virginia Gilpin a member of the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Professional Art Therapists. The Governor also reappointed Katherine Delahanty.

  • Virginia Gilpin of Lexington is a professional art therapist. She replaces Rebecca Hunger, whose term has expired, and will serve for a term expiring September 26, 2026.
  • Katherine Delahanty of Louisville is Director of Outreach at Louisville Visual Art and will serve for a term expiring July 15, 2026.

Governor Beshear appointed Morgan Eaves as a member of the State Advisory Committee for the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The Governor also reappointed Joy Brown, Jeffrey Dembo, Marlon Sams, Clay Cottongim, William Brammel Jr., Frank Beaty, Patrick Manning, John Denton, Don Gibson, Molly Caldwell, Nicholas Hazel, Matt Sawyers, Max Bishop and Charles Haddaway IV.

  • Morgan Eaves of Lexington is Director of Advocacy at Cognia. She replaces Lane Hettich, whose term has expired, and will serve for a term expiring September 26, 2024.
  • Joy Brown of Morehead is Executive Director of Tourism for the Morehead Tourism Commission and will serve for a term expiring August 17, 2024.
  • Jeffrey Dembo of Lancaster is a retired professor and will serve for a term expiring August 17, 2024.
  • Marlon Sams de Corbin is City Manager for the Town of Corbin and will serve for a term expiring August 17, 2024.
  • Clay Cottongim of Shelbyville is Director of Parks and Recreation for the Shelby County Parks Board and will serve for a term expiring August 17, 2024.
  • William Brammel Jr. of Crestwood is an attorney with DBL Law and will serve a term expiring August 17, 2024.
  • Eubank’s Frank Beaty is retired and will serve for a term expiring August 17, 2024.
  • Patrick Manning of Mount Sterling is executive director of MSMC Parks and Recreation and will serve for a term expiring August 17, 2024.
  • John Denton of Smith Mills is a farmer and his term expires August 17, 2024.
  • Don Gibson of Leburn is Director of Permits and Regulatory Affairs for Blue Diamond Mining and will serve for a term expiring August 17, 2024.
  • Molly Caldwell of Lexington is a nonprofit executive for the Kentucky State Parks Foundation and will serve a term expiring August 17, 2024.
  • Nicholas Hazel of Campbellsville is the assistant general manager for the Lake Cumberland Region Development District and his term will expire August 17, 2024.
  • Matt Sawyers of Lexington is executive director of the National Association of Shell Marketers for Associations International and his term will expire August 17, 2024.
  • Max Bishop of Louisville is Senior Environmental Project Manager for Micro-Analytics Inc. and will serve for a term expiring August 17, 2024.
  • Charles Haddaway IV of Pleasure Ridge Park serves as executive director of the Kentucky Recreation & Park Society and will serve a term expiring August 17, 2024.

Governor Beshear has appointed Molly Boyd and Dawn Sexton as members of the Reading Diagnosis and Intervention Grants Steering Committee.

  • Molly Boyd of Danville is a community volunteer and will serve for a term expiring September 26, 2025.
  • Dawn Sexton of Burgin is a kindergarten teacher for Burgin Independent Schools and will serve for a term expiring September 26, 2023.

Governor Beshear reappointed Lori Ulrich and Virginia Reeves as members of the Buffalo Trace Covered Wooden Bridge Authority.

  • Mayslick’s Lori Ulrich is head of marketing and public relations for Fleming-Mason Energy and will serve for a term expiring October 24, 2025.
  • Virginia Reeves of Wallingford is a retired library media specialist and will serve for a term expiring October 24, 2025.
