Burnley veterans’ charity Healthier Heroes CIC will receive £12,000 from Warburton’s
Founded in 2018 and located in Burnley, Healthier Heroes CIC is a support service dedicated to helping the veteran community, including families and carers, overcome barriers that restrict certain aspects of their lives, such as social isolation , homelessness and mental well-being.
The charity aims to rehouse, rehabilitate and reconnect veterans and their families, as well as support veterans who have left or are still in the criminal justice system, using a peer mentorship program to help them rebuild their lives and find a job.
The £12,000 will go towards the ‘How to Be Mindful Not Mindful’ project, which aims to equip families and children with new skills to cope with anxiety and stress through mindfulness techniques and wellness, workshops, counseling-based methods, and yoga.
Andrew Powell, Chief Executive of Healthier Heroes CIC, said, “Healthier Heroes is very grateful for this grant as it allows us to move forward with our ‘How to Be Aware, Not Aware’ project. We look forward to seeing how the grant will help young people learn vital skills to improve their mental health and emotional intelligence, as well as learn more about their brains and how they can create positive experiences for themselves through quick and easy interventions. We couldn’t thank Warburtons enough.
Honor in Downing Street for a Burnley-based project committed to helping veterans…
The Warburtons Foundation, which was launched earlier this year, aims to help community organizations in local areas across the UK. In addition to financial donations, the Foundation offers food education initiatives and product donations with a commitment to donate one million fresh produce nationwide to schools, food banks and community groups in end of the year.
Jonathan Warburton, Chairman of Warburtons, added: “We are delighted to be able to work with organizations like Healthier Heroes who provide such vital support to the local community. The Warburtons Foundation continues to look for ways to help charities and community groups across the UK, through product donations, education and financial donations. During these two very challenging years, we will continue to listen and act so that we can support families as best we can.
