Donations sought for the 2021 Vacaville Veterans Community Christmas Eve Meal – The Vacaville Reporter
A pandemic won’t stop Vacaville veterans from providing hot meals to those in need on Christmas Eve.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic will prevent the annual Christmas Eve dinners from being served on-site at the Vacaville Veterans Memorial Building, where they have been in the past, they will once again be delivered to anyone in the area who makes Requirement. Interested recipients simply need to call the venue at 447-6354 by December 22 to place orders.
As always, the menu will consist of turkey, ham and many side dishes. The organizers are asking for donations of hams, rolls, desserts and money, which will allow volunteers to buy everything they need for these dinners. One item the organizers don’t ask for is turkey, which they’ve always had in abundance since Thanksgiving dinner.
“We were overwhelmed on Thanksgiving and DO NOT need turkeys,” organizers wrote in a press release. “Our freezers are full.”
Donations will be accepted in person during Veterans Hall hours of operation from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at 549 Merchant St. Donations can also be made via PayPal at VacaVets.organd checks can be made payable to American Legion Post 165, PO Box 3043, Vacaville 95696. The tax identification number is 94-6101931.
Meals will be delivered between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on December 24. For all inquiries, including meal requests and donation information, call 447-6354. Organizers advise calling before donating to ensure volunteers are available to accept donations.
