JW Collection homebuilder volunteers joined Oct. 7 HomeAid Atlanta make improvements to Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program.
During the care day, volunteers demolished an outdoor patio, dug a French drain, removed unwanted interior shelving, trimmed trees and shrubs, and performed other landscaping work around the facility. HomeAid estimates the work has saved more than $9,000 in maintenance costs ahead of a major renovation project HomeAid and the nonprofit are carrying out to provide beds for 35 homeless veterans .
The Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program provides veterans with assistance in the form of food, housing, clothing, veterans claims, home registration, and other forms of support.
HomeAid Atlanta said JW Collection CEO John Wieland is a longtime supporter who served as HomeAid Atlanta’s first-ever Captain Builder for the Atlanta Union Mission’s Second Mile Home in 2004 and led the construction of My House a few years later.
“I just want to say that I’m delighted to be here with the team today,” Wieland said in a statement. “We’ve had a long relationship with HomeAid because of all the good work they do.”
