Opening of the community of veterans of Bensalem
BENSALEM, PA — A residential community for veterans in Bensalem is set to begin welcoming its first residents.
Bensalem Veterans Residences, which was recently completed near the intersection of Mechanicsville Road and Street Road, aims to provide affordable housing for seniors, particularly veterans aged 62 and over.
Leasing for the community began in September and its owners say they expect to fill nearly all of its 40 units soon. Rent for one bedroom apartments is $850.
Local service providers, including the Bucks County Department of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans One-Stop Center, will provide on-site support services during development.
The 39,673 square foot development, built by Philadelphia-based Pennrose LLC, is a three-story building with 40 one-bedroom units.
It will include a community hall with outdoor patio, lounges and laundry rooms on each floor, a fitness room, and a community services office with conference space where local veterans organizations can meet.
“Bensalem Veterans Residences is a perfect example of how public-private partnerships can benefit our communities and we are proud to work with the Mayor, Township and all project partners to provide veterans and seniors of the Bucks County affordable, high-quality housing,” said Pennrose President Mark H. Dambly.
“We recognize the importance of supporting our nation’s heroes, and with a number of on-site amenities and support services coupled with easy access to public transportation, this community is a great place for seniors to and older veterans can age independently.”
