Veterans Community Project Celebrates Completion of Tiny Home Village With Holiday Lighting Ceremony
A light-up celebration takes place to mark the completion of a very special Tiny Home Village in Kansas City. 49 tiny houses and the 4,600 square foot community center are built and now open. The entire village was built to help Kansas City’s homeless veterans get back on their feet, as the Veterans Community Project offers education, health and wellness management programs and cases to help homeless veterans to gain the stability needed to find permanent housing solutions. To celebrate the completion of the project, donors worked to light up the village during the holidays. Some of the displays are already up, but the switch will officially be flipped at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday as part of a public celebration. “Veterans have done so much for our country,” said Kathryn Harvel of the Community America Foundation. “They’ve made the ultimate sacrifice and whatever we can do to brighten up their holiday season, we’re so excited.” During the celebration, the Tiny Homes and the new community center will be open for tours.
